PDLN Webinar on Australia Publishers v Platforms Case

Adam Suckling, CEO Copyright Australia and Virgina Morrison, Senior Solicitor, presented background and detail on the widely reported government intervention on platform licensing. Last Month the Australian government accelerated the deadline for a licensing solution after becoming convinced that voluntary approach was not delivering results.

The webinar was attended by 37 publisher and licensing organisations from around the world who see the ruling and the parallel French case as setting a new urgency and tone in efforts to ensure platforms pay for the content they exploit. Contributions and questions from Allliance (the French Publishers), the Guardian and others underlined wide interest in the case. The presentation is available to PDLN members in the seminar archive.
